Dr. Abby Saneholtz

Dr. Saneholtz has expertise in treating women’s issues, anxiety management and self-esteem, as well as, perfectionism, body image issues and coping with medical illness/injury.  She has prior training in biofeedback and interests in mindfulness meditation and health/wellness activities. During her previous position at USF’s Counseling Center, she provided therapy and consultative services to USF athletes and general students.

While at USF’s Counseling Center, Dr. Saneholtz served as liaison for USF Athletics and regularly collaborated on programming with USF Campus Recreation, Health Services and the Dance Department. In her prior positions, as Outreach Coordinator and Coordinator for the Center for Substance Abuse at the Counseling Center, she developed interactive programming, consulted and collaborated with the USF Wellness Departments to provide services for the USF campus community. 

Dr. Saneholtz is a Licensed Psychologist and member of the American Psychological Association. Dr. Saneholtz graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Bowling Green State University, a Master of Science degree at Eastern Michigan University in Clinical Behavioral Psychology and a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at Nova Southeastern University.

Dr. Saneholtz understands the pressure athletes and performers face to excel. Her services help individuals develop the mental skills needed to enhance motivation, manage performance anxiety and increase confidence to reach health, fitness and performance goals. She also works with individuals who have faced injury to be resilient as they overcome such challenges.  In addition to her professional pursuits, Dr. Saneholtz was previously a competitive gymnast for 10 years and has multiple family members who were Division I intercollegiate athletes.  Dr. Saneholtz remains active through engaging regularly through cardio workouts, TRX, Yoga and Pilates.
